During this summer, which is also a season of mangoes, what can be better than a mango drink so delicious and creamy as Mango Lassi to quench your thirst.

Here is the creamy Mango Lassi made using sweet mangoes and curd, flavoured with cloves and cardamom, garnished with pistachios, saffron strands and mango pulp.

INGREDIENTS :

(1) Pulp of 1 Kesar Mango. You may choose any Mango that is sweet, juicy and less fibrous.
(2) 500 grams of chilled Curd / Dahi
(3) 15 teaspoons of Sugar or as per sweetness required to you. You may use Honey as natural sweetener in case you do not prefer Sugar.
(4) 4 Cloves / Lavang
(5) 5 green Cardamom (Hari Elaichi), deseeded
(6) 25 Pistachios, chopped (for garnishing)
(7) Saffron Strands (for garnishing, optional)
(8) Mango pulp chunks (For garnishing)
(9) 10-15 ice cubes

Note : You may use readymade cardamom powder if you have. I have used whole green cardamom and cloves as it gives stronger flavour and aroma.

Garnishing ingredients

METHOD :

(1) Take out the pulp of 1 Kesar Mango and collect them in a bowl. Here’s the mango pulp.

(2) Take 5 green Cardamom pods, press and open them and take out the seeds housed inside them. You may discard the outer shell. Most of us know how to do this, yet showing to those who want to know. 

Now, in a jar of the mixer grinder, put 15 teaspoons of Sugar, 4 cloves and seeds of 5 green Cardamoms. Grind them and form a powder. 

Powdered Sugar ready.

(3) Add the Mango pulp to the powdered Sugar in the grinding jar.

(4) Add 500 grams of chilled Curd.

(5) Add 10 ice cubes.

(6) Blend them until smooth.

Our Mango Lassi is ready.

(7) Pour the Mango Lassi into serving glasses.

(8) Garnish with Saffron strands and Mango pulp chunks.

(9) Pour the remaining Mango Lassi into two more serving glasses.

(10) Garnish with chopped Pistachios and Mango pulp chunks.

(11) Relish the Mango Lassi. Serve chilled.

Calcium is known to maintain good bone structure, so if you drink lassi daily, you are also improving your dental health.

(4) The vitamins and minerals present in lassi is a great way to maintain a healthy electrolyte balance in the body.

(5) The calming effect of lassi can prevent you from sun strokes.

(6) It is a mix of water and curd, which is five times more hydrating.
