Hung Curd

We need the following for making Hung Curd

(1) 650 grams of Curd

(2) An empty utensil

(3) A Strainer

(4) A Muslin or a Cotton Cloth

METHOD :

(1) Place a strainer on an empty utensil.

(2) Now, place a Muslin or a Cotton Cloth over this strainer.

(3) Pour the curd over this muslin cloth as shown.

(4) Tie knot to the muslin cloth with curd inside.

(5) Place this curd in the muslin cloth like this and hang overnight. You may hang it or keep a heavy weight on it.

(6) The water from the curd will drip into the utensil. This water is called Whey and it can be used for various purposes.

(7) Next day, or after 6-10 hours, open the knot.

(8) What we get is called Hung Curd. It is creamy and thick.

(9) Collect the hung curd into a separate bowl.

(10) It can be used in the making of Shrikhand and various other dishes.
