Avocado raita is a smooth and creamy, simple yogurt / curd based side dish with Avocado and curd as the key ingredients. We add various other ingredients for additional flavours.
Depending upon the ingredients used, I have prepared three types of Avocado Raitas.
They are
(1) Avocado Raita (Plain)
(2) Avocado Cucumber Raita
(3) Avocado Boondi Raita
The Avocado raita is quick and easy to make and is nutritious too.
You can serve it with Veg Pulav, Veg Biryani, Parathas or along with any main dish.
About Avocado :
Avocado is a pear shaped fruit with a long, slender neck and the colour ranges from green to dark purple. Botanically, the fruit is a berry and has a single large round seed in it.
Avocado is rich in Vitamin A, B, C, E, K and traces of minerals including Magnesium and Potassium. It also contains good amount of dietary fibre and healthy fat.
INGREDIENTS :
(1) Pulp of one Avocado
(2)400 grams Dahi
(3) 1 green Chilli
(4) Handful of Coriander leaves
(5) Half teaspoon of roasted Cumin Seeds Powder (roasted Jeera powder)
(6) Half teaspoon of Black Pepper Powder (Kali Mirch Powder)
(7) One fourth teaspoon of Raita Masala Powder. If you don’t have this use Chaat Masala Powder.
(8) Salt as required. I used Half teaspoon of Salt.
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS
(9) One Cucumber, grated
(10) One third cup of Salted Boondi
(11) Water for blending
PREPARATION :
Take a ripe Avocado and slice it into two halves.
The cut should be just 1 cm deep on the surface. Do not cut deeply as there is a seed inside.
Take out the seed from within.
With the help of a knife, form cuts in the pulp.
Scoop out the pulp of the Avocado using a spoon. Collect the pulp in a bowl.
Put the Avocado pulp in a separate bowl.
Discard the peel and the seed.
We will use this pulp while preparing Avocado Raitas.
METHOD :
AVOCADO RAITA (Plain)
(1) Add Avocado pulp into the jar of the mixer grinder
(2) Then, add to it, 400 grams of Curd.
(3) After that, add handful of Coriander leaves.
(4) Add 1 green Chilli
(5) Add half teaspoon of Salt
(6) Add Half teaspoon of Black Pepper Powder
(7) Add One fourth teaspoon of Raita powder.
Use Chaat Masala Powder of you don’t have Raita powder.
(8) Add half teaspoon of roasted Cumin Seeds Powder
(9) At last, you may add a little water if you want. I did not add any water.
Cover the mixer grinder jar with its lid.
(10) Grind the mixture until smooth.
Plain Avocado Raita is ready!
(11) Transfer it into a serving bowl.
(12) Garnish with Coriander leaves.
(13) Refrigerate and serve chilled.
AVOCADO CUCUMBER RAITA
(1) For preparing this recipe, we will need one whole Cucumber. Grate it.
(2) Add 3-4 teaspoons of grated Cucumber into a bowl.
We will keep some grated Cucumber for garnishing later.
(3) Add Plain Avocado Raita to it. Mix well.
(4) Garnish with Coriander leaves and remaining grated Cucumber.
Avocado Cucumber Raita is ready!
Refrigerate and serve chilled.
AVOCADO BOONDI RAITA
(1) For preparing this raita, we will take one third cup of Salted Boondi.
(2) Soak it in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes.
(3) After 10-15 minutes, strain the water and collect the soaked boondi.
Do not squeeze the boondi to remove soaked water inside it.
(4) Add the soaked boondi into the serving bowl as shown.
(5) Add Plain Avocado Raita to it. Mix well.
Garnish with Coriander leaves.
Garnish with salted boondi on top.
Avocado Boondi Raita is ready!
Enjoy it with Veg Biryani, Veg Pulav, Parathas or with any main dish.

(10) They reduce inflammation in the body.
(11) They are rich in fibre.
(12) They help to relieve arthritis pain.
